If bets are a good thing to do if you have a limited bankroll, your betting it all, and the 2nd game goes off before the 1st one ends.

Example:

You have 100 bucks in your betting account, you wanna bet an early nfl game AND a late nfl game but fear that the first game wont be over by the time the second one starts.

The if bet kicks in as a second bet IF your first bet wins.

On the flip side, it could be viewed as a sucker bet too, because if your going to bet both for sure why not bet a 2 team parlay at better odds?

if bets are like a parlay with insurance...

its like this... the payout kinda sucks for if bets compared to parlays but you win money everytime you win a game in your if bet, in acending order... but if you make a 7 team if bet and win the first 5, but lose the 6th pick, then you only get credit for 5 wins, if you lose the first game and win the last 6, you get NOTHING

I agree with Kevin, that the "if bet" is usually if you are low on cash. However, I sometimes play with the for WTF value. I have done this in the past:

$100 on Game One to win $90,

If that wins then $90 on Game 2 to win $80
If that wins then $170 on Game 3 to win $150

This way if I win 1 game I get my investment back and don't have to be worried about losing anything.

I don't think it is the real way to make moneythough.

The payout is the same as any other bet if it is -110 then it would be $100 to win $91.00 ont the first part of the IF. if the Secon game is -110 then it would be $100 to win $91.00 on the second game.
