Scratching a Play or 2???

Just curious how someone can scratch a posted play??

I called Pinnacle to scratch a play (on Temple) and they sort of laughed at me, with a Caribbean accent at that:bang:


How does someone post a play (with units) and then scratch it??

Just trying to stay on the up and up here, and scratching posted plays, in my eyes is not possible. Buying back a play would seem to be the logical answer. You go 1-1 and loose the vig, but scratching a play is not a reality when dealing with books. Its almost like taking a test without studying.


Possibly an idea for another rule here at the UC.

Yeah I think you just have to take the other side and lose the VIG.

I think a "scratch" is done by someone that really doesn't make the play, and then later decides he doesn't want to play it, so he scratched it, even though he posted it and someone tailed him for 5,000 dimes.

Glad to see someone agrees........I'd love to buy back Temple, just not willing to do so with 5 points on the line, so like a MAN, going to either win or lose 2 units. This shit of scratching plays is bogus, but one gentleman's record here should be 2-2 & - the juice.

I see now, the lines have moved a little, so just scratch the plays and not risk loosing them all.


He knows who he is and all I can say is.... I have a great memory and payback is hell sometimes:gulp:

I appologize if you seen my picks on Sunday. I posted them and had to scratch them due to the book not opening the bar! I ended up eating a KY bet that was turned in blind and it went my way. I would have went with them if he would have been open! If he would have been in then there is no way he'd let me scratch them!

I really would not care personally about anyone's record but for this person to post 2 games weeks in advance then "scratch" them is a joke, without adding them to the YTD. Also, you can see the response you've gotten thus far. You never have scratched a play in your entire life of gambling? I'll bet my bottom dollar you have, maybe not on a posted play, but I bet you have scratched a play. I also scratched the plays well enough in advance so that if anyone had seen my first post on the games and in fact saw that I would update them as information became available, I'm certain the smarties would of known why I scratched Boise & Memphis.

As far as adding them into my YTD record, they are there pally!! You can go back and add them up...

I followed this post from the beginning and only commented ToP cause you dissed our beloved Stroh's Beer....lol......and dude you know I know where youre coming from here.....I too have concerns about a scratched play not for myself but as you both know by now there are many many more newbies and youngsters both lurking and joining in posting on this wonderful site....this wonderful site is the plot of my story here....and it is probable that someone saw WB's initial post and read right past the opening disclaimer and went straight to their sportsbook and got those wagers in before there were any line changes....that is my concern for sure....WB also has recognized that and has taken his medicine with a public apology on the board if that did in fact happen.....what took place between y'all during hoops must be ancient history by now....with all due respect to the both of you I hate seeing this petty friggin' bickering back and forth now....I am actually quite suprised that one of our crack mod's hasnt closed this thread by now and it is my hope that mine will be the last post before it is in fact closed....this site has grown in both size and quality since I went from lurker to poster 3 years ago....I have lurked at them all and this has the best people behind this site as well as us as members make this the best informational site on the web.....I truly believe we make better decisions and more cash when harmony abounds between us all....my apologies for sticking my nose in y'alls business but cant we all just get along....I mean....roll up a big fat one and chill....

Dead and others, I appreciate what ya'll are saying and glad you recognized what I first posted Dead. For those that can't read between the lines, I said I was sorry that two plays were scratched. And as you noted dead, there are many new folks, lurkers and such and those that have followed me since 1997 know that I do update my posts, however, I have never scratched a play on a post. I'm sorry for that and took both games as a push, losing the juice so to speak.

What I had posted in ToP's thread in college hoops was simply a request if he could post his YTD record as I was a newbie as well to this forum and just for public interest, would of loved to know his record was all. I know he did well and had a great hot streak for a week there and just asked. I didn't diss him or intended to, if he took it as a diss, then it was a misunderstanding.

For someone to gripe and complain and whine etc., surely isn't what this forum wants to see and I'm sorry if I started any shit.

I don't want an apology and I don't deserve an apology and I never dissed the capper who I thought had some integrity and understood that folks make mistakes and so forth.

I could go on and on about this and the person who wrote the stuff he did. I'm letting this close for now and appreciate the responses.

This is by far the best site anywhere you can find on the internet hi-way and there are some great folks here and very good cappers.

For the integrity of the board and so forth, keeping an honest record or trying to keep up for that matter would be great. I know that folks have real jobs and are busy doing this and that as well, but if you have time to research your games and do your analysis' etc., etc., then we should be able to update our records as well so that if newbies as you stated Dead, were to follow a post for the first time and those that lurk follow the posts as well, having a record for them to see also will help them in determining the hot streaks we may go through as cappers as well as when to fade our plays during a cold streak, which I hit this whole fookin season in MLB.

Enough chatter...Let's get ready for some Football, dammit!!

listen to me gang....there was some fun in this thread for just a split second....i think you all know me....i'm the guy 25 years ago with hair down to his ass, a tye dye on, weed on the brain and as layed back as a 20 year old lazyboy recliner....the last thing i wanted was for this pissing match to go on....the intent was truly for me to say my piece and hope the thread gets closed....i'm still the same guy except i have no hair anymore and weigh about 60 lbs more....good clean living will do that to ya...lol....that and a wife that can cook with the best of them....all that being said i think its safe to say that ToP and WB will stay out of eachothers hair going forward...no pun intended there....and we all move on....jeez....Kevin....sounds like i'm interviewing for a mod job doesnt it....i just like it when we all just post with good intentions...compliment eachother when we are on a run and pick eachother up when we are down...we all have been on this viscious football gambling cycle of hot and cold streaks...records are important....no doubt about it....i think right now they mean less than they will in 6 weeks....early in the year you ride the hotties...jump off when they get cold and in a month or two the cream....for this particular year...will rise to the ToP...again no pun intended....i may be 20 games under .500 going into the bowls but one things for sure...i'm gonna make the man wish bowl season never existed.....we should be men enough...and a few very good women...to police ourselves as far as records...will someone close this down now...thanks
