This my first post on the board - long time reader, first time poster. I?m not a rookie to sports betting however. This past college basketball season, I began with 20 dollars and turned it in to 2400 by the end of the regular season. I am looking forward to the upcoming football season. Hopefully we can all make a little spending money.
I took a quick glance at some of the early lines for College Football Week 1 and here are some that caught my eye, along with which side I favor. Let me know what you think.
Bowling Green +6.5 @ Wisconsin - The Badgers could realistically finish seventh in the big ten this season. Wisconsin lost to Michigan St and Iowa by a combined 58 points to close out the regular season and return just 10 starters. They are 6-15 against the spread vs non-conference since 99, and 2-4 ATS vs MAC in last decade. Omar Jacobs could be the MAC's Ben Rothlisberger this year. Since 2001, BG is 7-2 straight up and 9-0 ATS versus BCS schools. After buying a point, I like BG at +7.5
UAB +24 @ Tennessee - This could go either way, but i like UAB as part of a teaser or something. Tennessee usually has problems covering spreads when they are heavy favorites. They are 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 home openers but only 8-17 against the spread in their last 25 games as home favorites. Im leaning toward UAB. They are suppose to be the class of conference USA this season. I don't seem them getting beat by four TDs.
Texas AM 0 @ Clemson - I really like the Aggies in this position. This could be Dennis Franchiones best team at College Station and the Aggies have one of the top offenses and defense in the Big 12 behind Texas and OK. Led by Reggie McNeal, a Heisman contender, I think AM pulls out a road win.
Miami Fla -2.5 @FSU - This is a tough one, but I like Miami to win and the moneyline will probably pay pretty decent. I just don't know about Florida State, there are a lot of uncertainty. Though both teams will start rookie QBs, I think Miami's defense is best in the league and that should make the difference.
Mississippi +2 @ Memphis - Last year I rode the underdog Memphis team to the straigh-up upset bank against the Rebels. This year they are favored, but i still like them to win.
Virginia Tech -5.5 @ NC State- I still think Va Tech could be the most talented team in the ACC. If Vick comes out looking even half of what his brother does, I see Va Tech easily getting a TD win. This would be another good teaser game, or by 2.5 points and get it to a field goal.
