Had a pretty good year thus far with the golf picks....In the majors, I like to spread things around. If I can end up winning a dollar, I'm happy, because I'm watching every shot of this tourney whether I've got some cash on it or not....I love watching golf on tv...especially when its on high def....I've watched the Golf channel for hours on end and done a lot of research going into this one....all its done is confuse me going into this one....without further ado, here goes....like I said, I like to spread the money around and hope to come out at least a penny on top....
Couldn't take Tiger in this one...had him in the Masters, U.S Open and British...and even though I think he's got a great chance to win this weekend, I simply couldn't justify playing him at 3/1...even in a major championship...just think about it for a second...3/1...in a PGA event...that's unheard of.....
6/1.....6 units...Vijay Singh...had to take a favorite...6/1 is low, but not for a guy who has been the best on tour from tee to green all year...if the putter is working, I think he's the man to beat.
15/1....3 units....Retief Goosen....I'm a little worried about the 36 holes on Sunday..in the altitude...Goosen himself said he needed to have his legs worked on to be ready....minus major meltdown, which is very unlike Retief, he would have won the US OPen and made a run at the British...how can't you take Mr. Steady at 15/1.
21/1...2 units...Sergio Garcia....Baltustrol plays to strong iron play...Sergio isn't my favorite player in the world...but he's a strong iron player...the greens aren't said to be overly difficult...seems like a decent play at 21/1.
24/1...2 units...Jim Furyk....great long iron player and putter....not long off the tee, but if you want a guy who can nail his long irons on the greens, he's the guy.
35/1...1 unit...Kenny Perry...another long hitter....if he's putting, he can contend.
55/1...1 unit...Chris DiMarco....like his game...he's been faltering of late...but you can't dismiss his play in the Masters and last year's PGA...he likes the big spotlight...
113/1....1/2 unit...Fred Couples....Boom boom in Jersey....why not? He's played very well this year....gotta love that smoot swing.
80/1...1/2 unit.....Sean O'Hair....probably not gonna win...but has a very nice game, especially playing in the spotlight. It would take something special, but I like the kid.
113/1...1/2 unit...John Daly.....ok, probably not gonna happen...but it would be fun to see Daly smoking and drinking Diet Cokes on Sunday in the final pair....as we all know, all he's got to do is be hot....can he reach 17 in two? Guess we'll find out.
