I live in knoxville Wild Bill, will be at the UT UAB game and also like UAB. Especially as a teaser or something. Tennessee usually has trouble covering spreads against weaker opponents. UAB isnt a pushover. Though i see them losing by double digits, i dont think it will be 4 tds

Great to hear from ya DZ. I like this kid at UAB, Blackney as a QB. He might be the same type of QB as Byron Leftwich or a poor man's version of Daunte Culpepper who I got to meet in person and talk with vs Nebraska some years back while he was at UCF.

I don't see the Vols covering that huge of a number as well.

WBill.......I like the first 3 of those....no opinion on the others....really really like UAB and Miami-OH and also throwing in Vandy! The 'Moes seem to cover as dogs more easily than the Deacons do as favs:thumbs:

Thanks Joe... Look for CSU with QB Holland and HC Lubick to have a very good year and get back into a decent bowl game this coming season barring any unforeseen key injuries which has set this team back the last 2-3 years...They could beat Colorado straight up. That series in Colorado is always topsy turvy.

Boise & TCU are hunch plays. Key offensive losses to UGA worry me vs a club that brings back 8/8 starters off/def and a great young coach and TCU also have Gunn back with a HC that is feisty in Patterson who wants Oklahoma bad. Without White, I don't see the Sooners gelling too quickly in week one as a 4 TD fav.

A lil synopsis on each game I previously played with the earlier lines and a few additional plays. Totals will be up as they become available for TV games...

Saturday, Sept 3

Bowling Green +5 (2 units)...Line has moved to -2 1/2. I love the QB, Jacobs at BG and Wisky lost some key defensive players from last years club and they have their starting QB back. Loved the +5. Bowling Green is 9-0 vs BCS teams ATS and their 21 pt scoring margin is pretty much back this year vs a club that plays good defense and is only a +6 but plays in the tough Big 10 when it wants to.

Miami-Ohio +17 (1 unit) QB for the Red-Hawks, Betts is very under-rated and Ohio State could be looking ahead a bit in this in-state game with a new head mentor for Miami-Oh who's been the offensive wiz before. Miami Oh is a plus 8 margin team vs the Buckeyes who were a plus 6 team and had tough times vs San Diego State among other teams when they were favored by double digits at home in recent memory.

UAB +24 (2 units) I love this kid Blackney for the Blazers and Watson isn't a bad coach. The Vols have a stellar defense, however their offense scares me, that's why double digits to a non-conference team at home isn't the place to go. Blazers should keep this game interesting. Vols winning margin of 6 pts from last year should improve, however the Blazers put up 31 per game last year which could give the Vols fits.

Colorado State +8 (3 units) Look for Holland and the Rams to upset the Buffaloes. Rams have been down the last couple of years with lots of injuries and eratic play. The Buffs have had distractions on and off the field and their coach I feel is still very over-rated from his days reviving the N'western program. This is a FG type of margin.

Boise St +6 1/2 (NO PLAY, as of 8/31/05) QB for Boise is a very creative player and he's not afraid to run the ball, which could give the Dawgs fits. Boise scored 23 more pts than their opponents last year and gave Louisville fits trying to keep the Boise club from scoring. Boise also doesn't stop clubs very much but they make opportunities which gave them an undefeated record until their bowl game vs L'ville. The Dawgs lost some key members to last years' team including Greene and Reggie Brown. What they have coming back has experience and they play in the tough SEC, however you would think that a coach of the caliber of Boise's might know that as well.

TCU +27 (1 unit) Horned frogs have Gunn back at the helm and they have two very strong running backs who will test a defense that lost Cody among others and they lost their stellar qb in White. The Sooners welcome back rb phenom Petersen who should run hog wild, however 4 touches a hard pressed vs a hungry club that has a feisty coach as well.

Illinois -1 1/2 (1 unit) Ron Zook looks to get his first win vs a scrappy Rutgers bunch at Champaign. Just feel the Big 10 is a little stronger than the Big East in this matchup even with the rebuilding Zook has had to do. Have to back the hometeam here.

Sunday, Sept 4

Syracuse -1 1/2 (1 unit) Robinson in his debut wants to make a mark and I feel his club will get the victory here at home in the Carrier dome which will be rocking. WV has had to replace a lot of vets the past 2 years and I just have an inkling that the Cuse will put the Mountaineers away quickly.

NC State +5 (1 unit) Wolfpack defense I feel will rise to the occasion as they did last year in Blacksburg. Loss of Randall as QB for Tech will prove to be costly in a hostile enviroment in Raleigh. New featured backs for the Wolfpack will be on display and they are all big and fast. This game should end up being a 20-17 type of game. Experienced qb's in Stone and Davis want this game badly as well.

Monday, Sept 5

Miami-Fla -2 1/2 (3 units) All the off-field distractions and loss of key players from last year for the Noles and the return of a strong defensive squad for the Canes, makes this a close matchup. The Canes have the special teams which should make the difference in this tilt.

Memphis -2 (NO PLAY as of 8/31/05) Hard to back Memphis without their start QB from last year Wimprine, however they have Deangelo Williams back who'll be playing on Sunday's next season. Ole Miss has a new coach with a new plan and I just feel the home team will squeek out a win here in Memphis. 24-14.

Like 'em all but UAB....I too am a Hackney fan but he got beat up just about everygame last year....his size makes him a big target and his O line failed him miserably last year....34 sacks....with the huge step up in class and tons of experience on the Tenny D I am thinking he may be in for terribly long day.....

WildBillPicks7
08-30-2005, 11:31 AM
Thanks Dead & Skins...

Skins, I like Zook and he's got a lot on his plate however I feel his club is a fg better than Rutgers..

Dead, I understand what you are saying and I'm aware of the Bulls lack of blocking for Hackney last year. What's good about the new season is teams with a coach of the caliber of Leavitt, will make an adjustment when they find their weaknesses and assess them over a year. I just feel the Bulls will come to play the Vols. Light play as well.

Adding:

Duke -1 1/2 (3 units) Blue Devils don't have to go far in this tilt vs Skipper Holtz who's back as a head coach after assisting his dad down in South Carolina. Do you think the Pirates can build on something with Pinckney, who failed classes last year? He's about as dumb as dirt and if you are that dumb and a QB it don't matter what kind of talent you have, you aren't going to beat Ted Roof's defense and QB Schneider in Greenville. Also Holtz' clubs have for some reason always been under the NCAA radar for illegal recruiting tactics. Blue Devils put this one away by 7, 28-21.

Last additional plays and analysis on each below for this week's NCAA Football action...

Under 59 1/2 Oregon/Houston (1 unit) Game played at Reliant stadium, on grass where both teams combined averaged less than 52 pts per game combined scores played on it in 2004. Oregon features a quality QB in Clemens who is not afraid to run the ball. Houston features QB Kevin Kolb, who can throw the pig and didn't show the same prowess he had as a true frosh, but still threw for 2766 yds at 56.1% His receiver corps return as does runner, Anthony Evans. Houston is 4-10 last 14 ATS in season openers. He has a lot to prove this year as do both defensive squads. Oregon trend play has them 12-2 last 14 games ATS played on grass, average total pts of 52. Houston is pitiful vs non-conference teams

Utah -7 (4 units) Line has dropped and good reason. Utes lost Alex Smith and Savoy from this squad and Arizona is improved. However, Utah has returning backup QB Brian Johnson, they have their leftside of the line back on "O" and hammering runner Ganther as well. Arizona lost this one at home last year 23-6. Make it Utah 35 Arizona 24.

Under 67 USC/Hawaii (5 units) Trying to figure out why this line is this high. Rainbows lost their terrific QB Timmy Chang as well as KR and WR Owens and they couldn't really stop anyone from scoring last year including giving up 41 to Northwestern and 38 to Michigan State at home. USC has basically their whole offense back, though they lost guru Norm Chow to the NFL, on defense they lost two quality d-linemen however they return their backups and 49 letterman, whereas Hawaii lost a league leading 26 lettermen. USC's highest output of total pts in a game was 59 combined last year before whooping up on Oklahoma 55-19 at a neutral site for 74 total points. With Hawaii's missing pieces, it's going to take time for them to score enough points on USC or anyone for that matter. USC wins this one going away 49-0.

Baylor -1 1/2 (1 unit) Oddsmakers made the Bears a 4 pt fav, with the line jumping to -4 1/2 right away. Now it's dropped to -1 1/2 which is fine with me. Trend play here has Baylor 10-1 last 11 vs SMU and 12-0 straight up. Guy Morris gets no respect, neither does his QB, Shawn Bell who threw for a completion rate of 60.2% and Paul Mosely ran for 582 yrds and 4 touches. 49 returning lettermen back for a Big 12 club that beat A&M at home and lost at home to Iowa State 26-25. They beat North Texas 37-14 at home last year as well. ON the road the Bears stunk up the joint at UAB, Texas, Nebraska, Tech and Okie State. Bears also were a minus 17 pts in scoring margin last year. They have to improve this year, right? The SMU Mustangs on the other hand were 3-8 last year, return 45 lettermen, 10 offensive starters and 8 defensive starters and were beaten by an average margin of 20 points last year. SMU has TCU on the docket next and they probably won't be looking ahead with all the stuff that's gone on this week with Hurricane Katrina causing chaos in the area east of them. Phil Bennett is 6-29 straight up as head coach at SMU and had home wins to San Jose, Tulsa in OT and Nevada and got beaten at home by Louisiana Tech 41-10. SMU is young and the Bears have a bit more veteran experience, especially at QB. I give a 3 pt edge to the Bears. The trend should be our friend in this game and tech play has this as a 30-27 game.

Hey WB, be a man and stick with your plays. You post Boise and Memphis as plays 20 days ago and "Scratch" them less than 48 hours before kickoff......

Wish I could "Scratch" Temple, but I played them when I posted them as a play, and even with a 5 point swing sticking with the pick.

Who is injured???

Since when does a Memphis injury on D warrant a no-play??? We ain't talking about the Steel Curtain here are we??

Memphis:

DEFENSE: While the offense has come a long way under coach West, the same can't be said of the defensive unit, which ranked 90th in total defense (417.8 ypg) and 114th against the pass (275.9 ypg). With seven returning starters and several solid backups, the Tigers should certainly improve in 2005. Marcus West highlights the defensive line with his tremendous quickness and good size. Last season, West really came into his own and posted 52 tackles with a team-high six sacks. He has been plagued by injuries over the year, but when healthy he adds another dimension to the Tigers' defense. Behind West will be a very good linebacker unit that welcomes back all three starters from a year ago. Tim Goodwell led the trio with 106 tackles last season, while Carlton Baker checked in with 96 stops and Quinton McCarary 82. In the secondary is were Memphis really struggled last season and if returning starters Dustin Lopez, O.C. Collins and Wesley Smith don't improve, the same results will be certain this year. Lopez played well in his first year at Memphis and was the team's biggest playmaker with four interceptions and 11 broken up passes at the corner. Collins is a solid tackling corner (80), but tends to get beat on too many deep passes. As for Smith, he is the best of the bunch from the safety position and earned All-Conference honors in 2004 after making 89 tackles and breaking up four passes.

Boise:

OFFENSE: After finishing first in the WAC and 13th nationally in passing efficiency (146.99), junior quarterback Jared Zabransky has continued the tradition of strong signal-callers under Hawkins. Prior to Zabransky the Broncos leaned on Ryan Dinwiddie who finished his career with the best passing efficiency of any Division I QB in history. But Zabransky, the preseason pick for the Offensive Player of the Year in the WAC, brings so much more than just his arm to the gridiron, placing second on the unit in rushing touchdowns last year with 13, averaging one for every 10 carries. With a long run of 85 yards, tops on the team, Zabransky has shown that he can challenge an entire defense and come out on top. In terms of passing, he connected on 63 percent of his attempts for 2,927 yards and 16 TDs. The only problem this year might be the fact that Zabransky doesn't have T.J. Acree (55 catches, eight TDs) to hit downfield, instead having to turn to last year's second-best receiver in Drisan James who reeled in 40 balls for 568 yards and a score. But really, that's the beauty of this offense, because there were six receivers who had at least 10 catches in '04. The top ground gainer from a year ago is back as Lee Marks (968 yards, two touchdowns) proves that he can again average better than five yards per carry for the Broncos. As if having the top offense in the league were not enough, BSU returns a total of eight starters on the offensive side of the ball, which means the big guys on the front line (Daryn Colledge, Tad Miller, Jeff Cavender and Derek Schourman) are all familiar with each other. Colledge, a 6-5, 295 tackle, was a First Team All-WAC choice last year and is being included on the Lombardi Award Watch List to begin his senior year.

I may loose every play this weekend, but I will have a sack while loosing...

Sorry folks for being an ass on opening weekend but this bitch, questioned my record during NCAA Hoops because it was not updated within 8 hours of the games closing. I personally won a good bit of money in NCAA BB last year, and this pecker's first 2 or 3 posts here consisted of calling me out, and the bitch really chapped my ass. If BP is let go, so should this fraud and his scratched games.

If you post a Play then Play the MF. Don't PUSS out with a lame excuse. I'm out till this bitch is gone.

You don't just scratch plays, either buy it back or roll with it, so WB should be 2-2, -Vig before the first whistle, IMO. Judge for yourselves. I just feel sorry for the poor souls that tailed him 20 days ago.

First off Mr High Horse, since when can't a person cancel a bet before it kicks off, 3 days before hand? And when did I call you out? The plays are posted, the edited dates are there. You are a sore loser is what the problem is TOP and you are an immature imbesol.

You want to insult someone's integrity, that's fine. Do it!! Be a big man about it and do it, if it really makes you feel good!

Since Boise plays tomorrow and Memphis plays Monday, and since I said in my first thread these lines and plays might be update, where did I go wrong?

I don't want your apology and I don't want anything from you.

End of story. Good luck to your season and 1,000 half time plays and last minute addons and so forth. You wanna call me out, I am here and I ain't hiding.

You can't live and let live now can ya? You feel better?

IF I have to buy back these games Mr High and Mighty TOP, then I will, is that ok with you SAH?!!!!!

Buyback....buyback..Boise & Memphis...

As far as injuries, wait until game time. Right now Marks is listed as game time and in Memphis the defense has some injuries as well.. Boise has some players who are making this trip who have been sick since Monday.

Go to the Boise Newspapers if you need to or better yet, go to the goldsheet press or USA today for injuries. You might gain some insight and info!

GL to you SAH and have a good one!

And one more thing, you gotta scratch your head when you get a total of 59 1/2 in the Oregon/Houston game and have the under and it's 38-21 with 20 secs left and the coach for Houston decides to kick a fg? Tell me those guys don't know the numbers!!! Briles coached at the D1-aa level and in high school and is well respected in the coaching profession.

Kicking that last second fg will have some folks, other than myself, really digging for info on that besides letting the kid get his feet wet kicking a fg. Why didn't he kick the fg earlier when they were near the goal line and down 10? Hmmm...

Makes ya wanna go hmmm!!

Poeple browse this forum looking for information. Obviously it's up to them in the end, but if you constantly say later that "no I decided not to" then you had better make sure you buy it back. If you're posting plays that you haven't actually made then you should make that clear. A title of "Early NCAA FB Plays" says just that--plays.

Scratch, buy back, whatever you want to call it, ToP is trying to keep the integrity of this forum intact. I have no problem with people buying back plays--it's your choice. Just make sure you note the juice lost in your record. Not for me, but for anyone that may use the info they find here for wagering their own hard earned cash.

If you are consistently buying back plays then that's a WHOLE nother issue.
