Started out my posting week with a 3-0 start, and looking to keep it going this week. I watch almost every game so I'm looking to get a beat on all the teams, not just my Sask Riders.
7/15
Toronto Argonauts +7 over BC Lions
The Argos are the defending Grey Cup champs, are tied for first in the East at 2-1, and are coming off a come-from-behind win against a very tough Sask team. With their dominant defence, and the veteran QB Damon Allen running a star laden yet-to-breakout offence, I like the 7 points here. I see this one being another close game. BC have a great passing game led by two All-star QB's in Dave Dickenson and Casey Printers, but they have no running game. This does not match up well against a Toronto defence that will give up yards on the ground, but counter with maybe the best secondary in the league. BC's defence is also suspect.
7/17
Saskatchewan Roughriders -9.5 over Hamilton Tiger-Cats
Riders took a bad loss last week, and should be hungry for the rebound at home. I watched live as my Riders dominated for 3 quarters, then blew a 12 point lead with 4 minutes to go. A nice mixed bag of a fumble, interference call, roughing passer call, and dropped INT on the goal line contributed to the collapse. It won't happen again against an inferior Hamilton team. They should keep their foot on the gas all game and pull out a big win. All star running back Kenton Keith returns for the Riders to form a 1-2 punch with current league rushing leader (KK's replacement) Corey Holmes. Sask dominated Hamilton on the road in week 2, and I see more of the same at home. Hamilton's offence ranked last in the league, with 40 year old QB, Danny McManus struggling badly.
2 Game TEASER
• Edmonton Eskimoes -14 over Winnipeg Blue Bombers
This could get very ugly. Ricky Ray and the Eskimoes passing attack are at home coming off a tough loss, and could go off on this young Bomber secondary. Bombers O-line gave up another 5 or 6 sacks last week, and are on an all-time record pace. They are just brutal. New starter Tee Martin had no time whatsoever. And how does management respond this week? Well by trading veteran Guard Dave Mudge to further weaken this area. Edm sack sepcialists Joe Montford and Rahim Abdulah could have career days. Not too worried about laying the 14 (actual line is 20.5).
• Saskatchewan Roughriders -3 over Hamilton Tiger-Cats
3 is not much to cover at home.
GL if you care!
