March 7,2006 (New York, NY)- The “Cameron Crazies” as we affectingly like to refer to the Duke Blue Devils fans were seen wandering along “Tobacco Road” last Saturday night in a discombobulated state, as apparently a tornado known as the “Tar Heels” had violently whipped through the area. Roy Williams’s young squad took apart Redick and company and in the process has caused a major shift in odds regarding this month “Big Dance.”
“Right now we have to place Connecticut in the role of favorite to win the National Championship at 5-2, suggested our resident sports aficionado Tony Delgado of

. They have played in the very competitive Big East and acquitted themselves quite nicely. Duke has seem their odds plummet from 13-5 to 5-2 to 7-2, while the young guns from North Carolina can be scooped up at 5-1.
What other schools in America have a shot this month? “Several schools can shoot the three’s but many of them lack an inside presence on the boards and this will be their undoing”, suggested ultimate capper writer Bob Acton. Two schools who can dominate inside are LSU and Georgetown. The Tigers have Glen Davis who at 6-foot-9 and 310 pounds can discourage most players from attacking the basket. LSU finished 8-0 at home in conference play for the second consecutive season. But unlike last season, when they struggled to a 4-4 road SEC record, the Tigers posted a 6-2 road mark, losing only at Alabama and Florida. The 14-2 conference mark is their best since the league split into two divisions in 1992.
Georgetown in the Big East did not perform well in the last couple of weeks and in fact holds the distinction of being the victim of South Florida’s first ever victory in the conference. They do however have 7-foot-2 Roy Hibbert in the middle and this can change the flow of a game. They open the Big East tournament against a very experienced and dangerous Notre Dame team so a victory could propel them to great heights at March Madness.
How can you ignore Roy William’s Tar Heels? They have four freshmen which usually mean’s inexperience, but these are some of the best players to come out of high school in America and they have dealt with pressure their entire athletic careers. The athletic talent they possess and the power of Hansbrough on the boards, plus the coaching suggest you run to the phone or computer and play them at 5-1!
