The first-place Arizona Diamondbacks look to extend a 3-game winning streak when they take on the Cincinnati Reds in the opener of a 3-game series Friday night in the Queen City.
The Diamondbacks just swept 3 games from the lowly Pittsburgh Pirates, and have won 8 of their last 10. Arizona leads the NL West by half a game over the Dodgers.
The Reds just took 2 of 3 games from Milwaukee, and sit in 2nd place in the NL Central, 4 games back of division-leading St. Louis.
The Snakes took 2 of 3 games from Cincy in Arizona earlier this month, and 2 of those 3 games went under the posted totals.
The Reds won the season series with the D-Backs last year 4 games to 2, with the over/under going 2-4.
Arizona is 10-10 on the road this season, and 12-9 when favored.
Cincinnati is 14-9 at home this year, and 13-12 as underdogs.
Arizona’s Brandon Webb (7-0, 2.44) looks like a solid Cy Young contender. Webb has allowed 8 ER in his last 21 IP, and has walked 2 or fewer batters in every start this year. He has, however, given up 10 hits in 2 of his last 3 starts.
In 2 starts vs. Cincinnati last year and this, Webb has given up 7 ER and 19 H+W in 16 IP.
Reds left-hander Eric Milton (2-1, 7.04) has allowed 16 ER in his last 16 IP, and Cincy is 3-7 in his last 10 starts. But in 2 starts last year vs. Arizona, he was allright, allowing 4 ER and 13 H+W in 12 2/3 IP.
The o/u is 6-4 in Webb’s starts this year, and 4-0 in Milton’s starts.
The Cincy offense owns a .350 team OBP, 4th-best in the NL, and is averaging 5.3 runs per game.
The Arizona O owns a .352 team OBP, 2nd-best in the league, and is averaging 5.4 RPG.
The D-Backs bullpen has allowed 11 ER and 30 H+W in its last 14 innings of work.
The Reds pen has given up 6 ER and 15 H+W in its last 15 2/3 IP.
The o/u is 24-19 in Arizona games this season, 22-21 in Cincinnati games, and 10-10 at the Great American Ballpark.

The Ultimatecapper Pick: How can we go against Brandon Webb? He's the best thing since sliced bread as far as we're concerned. Take the DBacks and hope like hell that their offense puts out.
