Del Mar was an excruciatingly formful race meeting in 2006
with a high percentage of favorites arriving on time. We had
quite a few double-digit winners and also hit a few monster
trifectas and superfectas by boxing our top four selections
but we really missed Patrick Valenzuela. The dominant rider
in California was laid up in hospital for most of the meet,
leaving the average jockeys to fight equally for the best
mounts.

How to use these free Del Mar horseracing picks
Del Mar racetrack is one of the toughest to handicap. Even
the best handicappers on the planet are lucky if they can
pick 30 percent winners. If we don't have the winner on top,
you can usually find it in our first four selections somewhere,
sometimes at great odds.
But the real goal here is to make money, so don't be afraid
to box up our first four selections in Exactors, Trifectas
and Superfectas. That box strategy netted us a $1 Trifecta
that paid $1,191 and a $1 Superfecta that paid over $5,000
in 2006.
