Maybe the best game of the weekend takes place in the Mile High City as the Denver Broncos host the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2 action on Sunday afternoon. Both teams are coming off Primetime Week 1 victories with Dallas getting an easy home win over the New York Giants 19-3, while the Broncos held off a late L.A. Chargers rally for a 24-21 Monday night victory. Denver limited Chargers’ running back Melvin Gordon to just 54 rushing yards in Monday’s 24-21 win, but will get a huge test on Sunday from Ezekiel Elliott and Dallas’ superior offensive line. Denver does not have a solid No. 1 back like Dallas, so they spread the ball with C.J. Anderson (20 carries, 81 yards in Week 1) and Jamaal Charles (10 carries, 40 yards) in Week 1. Former Cowboys and Broncos LB DeMarcus Ware, who retired in January, will be honored at halftime. Denver has won and covered four of the last five meetings between these two with the last coming in 2014.

LIVE IN-GAME BETTING

Dallas’ potent rushing game definitely takes pressure off of QB Dak Prescott, who passed for 268 yards and a touchdown last week against the Giants. Tight end Jason Witten hauled-in a 12-yard touchdown pass last week and will move past Ed “Too Tall” Jones by playing in his 225th career game as a Cowboy this Sunday. Prescott’s top target, Dez Bryant, was limited to just two receptions in the opener, but he erupted for six catches for 141 yards and two touchdowns in the 2014 game with Denver. Defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence eclipsed last season’s sack total of one by recording two of his team’s three last week. Dallas’ dominating effort against the Giants makes them the No. 4 offense and No. 7 defense overall in the league after one week. The Cowboys will play next Monday night at Arizona.

Von Miller is the unquestioned leader on the defensive side and maybe the whole team, but has yet to register a sack in his last five games. The Super Bowl 50 MVP has plenty of help, however, from a terrific run defense that will look to slow Elliott. Quarterback Trevor Siemian was solid on Monday night, spreading the ball around the field and finishing with two touchdowns and running for another. Demaryius Thomas led team in both catches (five) and receiving yards (67) against Los Angeles, but it was Bennie Fowler III who caught both of Siemian’s touchdowns. Denver, who is now 5-0 including the preseason, will travel to Buffalo next week before a big home date with the Oakland Raiders.

WEEK 2 NFL STAFF SELECTIONS

Most of the public is on Dallas in this one and I know why. When you get a line at -2.5 with a good team, people tend to take it. You can’t be afraid to take the +2.5, because you can always buy a half point to 3. Denver’s run defense will come up big today and force Prescott to beat them. Denver will also pick off a pass or two and Siemian will lead them to victory.
