SAN DIEGO CHARGERS (-6) over Kansas City Chiefs

San Diego is coming off of an emotional loss as they BLEW andI mean BLEW a late lead in a game where they came from behindtrailing 10-0 in the 2nd qtr versus the Eagles last week to goahead 17-13 later in the 4th quarter. With just 2 minutes leftin the game, the Chargers lined up for what was to be a 10 pointleading field goal attempt to solidfy the victory. Instead whattranspired was a blocked field goal that Philly returned 65 yardsfor a touchdown, not only was it returned for a TD but it changedthe entire game swinging the victory over to Philadelphia witha 23-20 win. To put it bluntly the Chargers CHOKED in a big way,they ABSOLUTELY BLEW IT. The Chargers were on the verge of beingtied with (4-2) KC in the win column , only a game shy of thefirst place Broncos. San Diego (3-4) is now in 3rd place in theirdivision only 1 game up on the basement dwelling Oakland Raiders.
Kansas City, (4-2) on the other hand, took careof business in Miami last Friday night not only winning 30-20but controlling the entire tempo of the game. Don’t be fooledby the final score as Kansas City absolutely manhandled the Dolphinsand they did it on virtually no rest or practice. The KC @ Miamigame was scheduled for last Sunday but was moved at the last minuteto Friday night due to Hurricane Wilma looking like it was goingto hit Miami over the weekend. Kansas City , basically had oneday to practice, got off the plane Friday a few hours prior tokickoff, they kicked Miamis butt and got back on the plane headedto kc. I was shocked at how easy kc beat Miami who still has adecent defense and was 2-0 at home prior to this game.
However, Kansas City is catching the Chargersin what seems to be a VERY TOUGH spot again coming off of thatlate loss and SD being at home this week. I was salivating atthis game when I opened my schedule late Sunday night after thelast NFL game (no spread yet) thinking to myself that San Diegowould NEVER lose this game. San Diego has played close in their4 losses which by the way came at the expense of 4 solid teams,in Dallas, Denver, Pittsburgh , and Philadelphia. In addition,San Diego lost those 4 games respectively by 4, 3, 2, and 3, anaverage of just 3 points. San Diego’s 3 wins however have allbeen blowouts as they manhandled the Giants, Oakland, and NewEngland by an average of 20 points. SD RB LaDainian Tomlinsonwill be looking for some big yardage this week coming off of a17 carry, 7 yard day last week. Look for LT to rush for over 100and maybe 150 yards in this game.
With that being said, the CHARGERS will win thisgame and should follow their current pattern of winning big andshould roll over kc who is playing in back to back road gamesin a not so friendly environment. My only concern is that I projectedthis game to be somewhere around -3 or -4 at most and the openingline shows it opened at -4 which is meaningless to the publicwho saw it basically open at -6 everywhere. Not only should thisline be somewhere around 3 or 4 but where is the LINE VALUE withKC coming off of the win and San Diego losing? The line actuallydid the reverse and moved up 2 points where is has been , as previouslymentioned , at -6 all week. I will be SICK AS A DOG if San Diegowins this game by a field goal and doesn’t cover, which I cansee happening since its a Division Game . But I am STRONGLY CONVINCEDthat SAN DIEGO wins this game, so laying the wood is mandatory. Look for the Chargers to continue blowing out teams that theyare better than and kc is one of them.
