After a slow start to the season, the Washington Nationals are heating up, winning 4 of their last 5 contests. Three of those 3 wins were against the lowly Phillies, but those are the type of games you can’t afford to lose as the favorite to win the World Series. Pitching has been decent as expected, but the defense has been horrendous. They are dead last in the majors with 14 errors committed in 13 games. The offense has been sluggish hitting only .226 as a team. Bryce Harper has been providing the most offense with 4 HR, 7 RBI, and 10 runs scored.

Tonight’s starter Gio Gonzalez is off to a rough start this year. He has a 5.11 ERA in his first 2 starts. This will be his first home start in 2015 and he’ll need to be better to get through the Cardinals lineup.

The Cardinals are in their familiar first place spot in the National League Central thanks to their pitching staff. The have a league leading 1.91 team ERA after 11 games and all 5 starters have an ERA under 3.00. They’ve won 5 in a row including a 3-game sweep of Cincinnati over the weekend. This will be the Cardinals first game outside of the NL Central.

Lance Lynn has been terrific in his two starts despite not reaching the 7th inning. He has 13 K’s in 11 innings while only walking 2. He’s coming off a very quiet season in which he went 15-10 with a 2.74 ERA.

Pick: Cardinals +107
