The streaking Minnesota Twins play host to the Milwaukee Brewers for the opener of a three-game, border-battle, inter-league series beginning Friday night at the Metrodome.

Minnesota just swept three games from the Los Angeles Dodgers (their sixth series win in a row), has won seven games in a row overall and 15 of its last 16. The Twins are in third place in the AL Central, 11 games back of the division-leading Detroit Tigers.

Milwaukee just took three of four games from the Cubs in Chicago to pull even with the .500 mark. The Brewers sit in third place in the NL Central, just 4 ½ games back of the division-leading St. Louis Cardinals.

Milwaukee is just 15-23 on the road this season, but 19-19 as underdogs.

Minnesota is a wonderful 27-10 at home this season, and an amazing 25-7 as favorites.

The Twins took two of three games from the Brewers in Milwaukee six weeks ago. These two teams split six games during last year’s season series.

Brewers’ rookie starter Carlos Villanueva has started one game in his ML career, shutting out Cincinnati for six innings in a 3-0 Milwaukee loss two weeks ago.
