The last two remaining undefeated Mid-American Conference teams clash tonight as Bowling Green visits Western Michigan. The Falcons can wrap up the MAC East with a win tonight and improve to 6-0 in the conference. They have the nation’s top-ranked passing offense and 3rd ranked overall offense averaging 593.7 yards a game. Bowling Green averages 45.9 points a game behind quarterback Matt Johnson. The Harrisburg, PA native is completing 70% of his passes for 3,686 yards, 33 touchdowns, and only 3 interceptions. The senior now has 60 career TD’s to only 11 picks. In Johnson’s last four games he has thrown for 19 scores and 1 interception. Bowling Green has cruised through the MAC this year, but will face their first big test tonight in Western Michigan, then host 8-1 Toledo next week before finishing up at Ball State. Their defense is letting up 28 points a game and a 98th best 434.2 total yards a game, but in the last three games they’ve only let up 34 total points including a shutout at Kent State.

Western Michigan is one of three teams that can still win the wide open MAC West. The Broncos will end the season not only playing the Falcons tonight, but at Toledo and at Northern Illinois, the two teams right behind them. Like Bowling Green, Western Michigan has cruised through the MAC schedule with their only close game being a 41-39 win over Central Michigan. They’ve scored 112 points in their last two games and are 16th in FBS in scoring with 38 points a game. Their defense is better than the Falcons ranking 68th, but they still let up 26.6 points a game. Their offensive star is probably wide receiver Daniel Braverman, who has six 100+ yard games. Overall, he has 85 catches for 999 yards, and 11 touchdowns. He’s been held out of the endzone and under 100 yards in his last two games. The Broncos are averaging 41.2 points a game at home and are 3-2 against the spread in Kalamazoo.

I think Western Michigan’s defense can slow down Bowling Green enough to keep up with them on the offensive end. This should be a great game with the winner getting that much closer to the MAC Title. I’ll take the points.
