Two 100 plus-win clubs have battled back-and-forth for six intense games, and it’s only fitting that this year’s World Series between the Houston Astros and Los Angeles Dodgers, will get a seventh and deciding game. The Dodgers finally solved ace Justin Verlander on Halloween night, giving Houston their first loss since acquiring the right-hander from Detroit in late August. The Dodgers trailed 1-0 when they started their comeback in the sixth inning as Austin Barnes hit a leadoff single before pinch hitter Chase Utley was hit by a pitch. Chris Taylor followed with an RBI double to tie the game 1-1 as the sellout crowd exploded. Corey Seager then flied out to the warning track to bring home Utley, a ball that might have carried out in Games 1 and 2 with 100-degree temperatures in Los Angeles. Joc Pederson, who hit .212 during the regular season, hit his franchise record-tying third homer of the series in the seventh to add some insurance for closer Kenley Jansen. Houston RF George Springer (9-for-24, five walks) hit his fourth homer of the series on Tuesday and is one shy of the World Series record shared by Reggie Jackson (1977) and Utley (2009). This will be the first Game 7 between two 100-win clubs since the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Philadelphia Athletics in 1931.

Pitchers: Astros – Lance McCullers Jr. (1-0, 2.95 ERA) | Dodgers – Yu Darvish (2-1, 4.15)

Lance McCullers will get the ball for a game a lot of kids only dream about. He was on hold for possible relief duty in Game 6, so he did his day-before throwing in right field following the conclusion of Tuesday’s game. McCullers defeated the Dodgers in Game 3, when he gave up three runs and four hits with four walks over 5.1 innings back in Houston.

NFL FOOTBALL PREDICTIONS

Yu Darvish was only the losing end of the Game 3 matchup against McCullers and couldn’t even make it out of the second inning. He allowed four runs on six hits, including a homer by Yuli Gurriel. Darvish has yielded seven homers in 24.2 career postseason innings, which includes his time with the Texas Rangers.

Boy, I really don’t want this season to end, but that’s exactly what is going to happen tonight. A major drought will be broken tonight as the Astros have never won a World Series in their 56 year history, which includes the Colt .45s, while the Dodgers haven’t won the title since 1988. Every time I think one team has the advantage, the other team comes back. I expect the same type of battle here tonight, but in the end, the Dodgers home field will give them the decided edge and World Championship.
