Not many games can top what we saw on Sunday night in Houston as the Astros held-off the Los Angeles Dodgers in an epic 13-12 Game 5 to send the series back to L.A. with needing only one more win to claim the franchise’s first World Series title. Every game in this series has been a nail-bitter with each team seemingly grabbing control, only to see the other comeback. They have already set a World Series record with 22 homer runs hit, breaking the old record of 21 set by the Angels and Giants in the 2002 Fall Classic that went seven games. The Dodgers had a chance to take a commanding lead heading back to L.A. with their ace Clayton Kershaw on the mound, but he and the bullpen couldn’t get the Astros bats in check, now the Astros’ best pitcher, Justin Verlander, can help them win it all. Verlander has more than done his job since joining the Astros – he is 9-0 with a 1.53 ERA in 10 total appearances (nine starts). Los Angeles 1B Cody Bellinger is back in a groove after going hitless in his first 13 World Series at-bats. He is 4-for-7 roll with one homer, one triple and two doubles in the last two games, while Houston’s George Springer reached base five times (three walks, one single, one home run) in Game 5 and has gone deep three times in the series.

Pitchers: Astros – Justin Verlander (4-0, 2.05 ERA) | Dodgers – Rich Hill (0-0, 2.77)

Verlander gave up only two hits in his Game 2 outing at Dodger Stadium but both were homers (to Joc Pederson and Corey Seager) as he gave up three runs in six innings. He still managed to come away with a no-decision after his team rallied for the win. Verlander has 11 career postseason victories, but has yet to be on a World Series winning team. He’s in the best position possible heading into Game 6.

NFL FOOTBALL PREDICTIONS

Rich Hill opposed Verlander in Game 2 and was given a somewhat controversial quick hook from manager Dave Roberts despite giving up one run and three hits and striking out seven in four innings. The emotional Hill was not happy about it in the dugout, but Roberts hinted that he will have a longer leash in Game 6.

The pitching matchup obviously favors the Astros in this one, but the Dodgers are a team that hasn’t given up all season and Hill is ultra-competitive and will be ready for this one. We probably won’t have the fireworks like we saw in Game 5, but this will still be an exciting one with the Dodgers forcing a Game 7.
