Bold Conquest Ready for Arkansas Derby

Bold Conquest worked out today at Oaklawn Park in preparation for Saturday’s Arkansas Derby. He was clocked at 1:01 4/5 at 5 furlongs including :24 in the final quarter.

Trainer Steve Asmussen said, “He’s doing exremely well. We lucked out with the racetrack today. I was very concerned with all the rain in the area, but it was a good track again this morning. His last two works have been the two best works of the year. It’s a good time to be doing so.”

Bold Conquest currently has 17 points in the Kentucky Derby standings, so he will probably need to finish in the top 3 in order to make the field. He finished a distant 3rd to American Pharoah in the Rebel Stakes and finished 2nd in the Iroquois Stakes at Churchill Downs.
