It’s time again for College Football toget underway. Here is a preview of this years’ Big 12 North.
The Missouri Tigers will be back with 8 starterson their offense which averaged 424 yards a game last year. Theywill have one of the deepest and talented offenses they’vehad yet. The Tigers need to pick up their defense after a collapsetowards the end of the 2006 season. They return only 5 starters.Special teams will also be of concern.
The Colorado Buffaloes will return 9 starterson offense. The Buffaloes lacked quarterback skills in 2006 thuscreating a poor year for receivers. Their running game is average.The defense managed to hold off opponents to give their offensea chance to win, but it still didn’t help. Their defensewill be returning 7 starters.
The Iowa State Cyclones offense will return 8starters. The key to their running game will be the health. Ifhe can stay healthy it will help a struggling offense. There willbe 5 starters returning from defense but they lost their besttackle and all-time sack leader. Most of the defense will be madeup of junior transfers.
The Kansas Jayhawks will have new running backsthis year after losing their best; unfortunately this is not goodnews. Both RBs don’t have a lot of experience and aren’texpected to put numbers up like their last RB. There will be 6starters returning on offense and 8 defensive starters returning.Their defense is young, with only one senior returning.
The Kansas State Wildcats will have a much improvedoffensive year with the return of 8 experienced players. Mostnotably are their top two running backs, top receiver and a muchimproved QB. As for defense, they’ll be returning 7 defensemenand will have a talented and experienced secondary unit.
The Baylor Bears are in troubleagain this year. They are replacing their QB again after lastyear’s hope failed. As for their running game, they didn’thave one. They averaged 40 yards on the ground. They’llhave the same O-line. On a good note the Bears defense was strongand they’ll back this year
